Abstract
The paper deals with theoretical study of the viscoelastic phenomena in magnetic suspensions of fiber-like ferromagnetic particles. Formation of the particles in bulk net-like aggregates strongly elongated along the applied magnetic field is considered. Contact friction between the particles in the aggregates affects the aggregate dynamics in a shear flowing suspension. Finite time of the aggregate orientation change after the change in shear rate gives rise to a macroscopic viscoelastic phenomena. Estimates show that the mechanism of the aggregates’ reorientation induces viscoelastic effects with a characteristic relaxation time of 0.1--1\,sec. Figs 2, Refs 17.
