Plane laminar flow of a non-newtonian fluid in a transverse magnetic field

L. K. Martinson - K. B. Pavlov

Abstract
This paper deals with the plane laminar magnetohydrodynamic flow of one class of non-Newtonian fluids, so-called plastico-viscous fluids. The velocity profiles are found for such a fluid when it moves in a flat channel with a transverse magnetic field under the influence of a constant pressure gradient for three modes of channel operation. It is shown that there are limiting transitions to a Newtonian fluid and to a nonconducting plastico-viscous fluid. Figs 2, Refs 5.
