Pressure head and electrical losses in the liquid metal in salient-pole induction pumps

T. K. Kalnin - R. A. Petrovicha - E. V. Priednieks

Abstract
The problem of the pressure head and electrical losses in the liquid metal in salient-pole induction pumps is solved. The salient poles are taken into account by dividing the induced-current field into two components with a phase lag with respect to the inductor field of 180o and 90o, respectively. The problem is solved by introducing several dimensionless parameters. The results obtained can be applied not only to induction pumps, but also to electromagnetic couplings with electromagnetic excitation and in cases where the magnetic field is created by permanent magnets.
