Influence of high-frequency field on transverse wave propagation in a magnetoactive plasma

A. G. Litvak

Abstract
The effect of the high-frequency field of a plane electromagnetic wave on the transverse propagation of low-frequency waves in a magnetoactive plasma is investigated, The problem is solved in the hydrodynamic approximation without account for the gas-kinetic pressure of the charged particles. It is shown that in the case under consideration a resonance instability exists in the direction of the wavelength, while the dimensions of the instability depend on the amplitude of the high-frequency field.
