Surface tension of a plane film in a uniform magnetic field

Abstract
The effect of magnetic field intensity on surface tension in a plane layer is discussed. A formula is derived which relates the magnetic field intensity to the value of the surface tension in a plane layer for a known magnetic susceptibility of the material. The experimental data presented qualitatively confirms the change in surface tension and the possibility of making it zero for certain values of the magnetic field intensity.
