Approximate calculation of electrodynamic forces acting on a sphere in a traveling magnetic field

Abstract
This paper gives a calculation of electrodynamic forces acting on a sphere located in a traveling magnetic field of a cylindrical inductor at those values of the magnetic Reynolds number at which the force is proportional to this number. The theoretical results obtained are confirmed experimentally. It is shown that the force acting on the sphere can be determined approximately by using the equation for cylinders of finite length.
