Integral evaluation of the effect of the velocity profile on the main parameters of an induction machine

A. P. Rashchepkin

Abstract
The distribution of electromagnetic fields in the gap of an induction machine was investigated under the assumption that the velocity profile over the cross section of the channel varies by a known law. The model of the machine permits taking into account also the effect of the electrically conducting walls of the channel and layer of heat insulation. The processes in the channel are analyzed on the basis of the method of averaging of functional corrections. Design equations are derived for determining the electrical parameters of the machine. The velocity of the fluid in the channel is assumed given. It was found that at small magnetic Reynolds numbers the effect of inhomogeneity of the velocity profile on processes in the machine can be neglected. The velocity profile must be taken into account in energetically stressed machines.
