Limiting behavior of a certain class of MHD flows in a strong magnetic field

Abstract
A rigorous mathematical proof is presented for the fact that in a planar and axially symmetrical stationary MHD flow, as Ha→∞ and at arbitrary Re = const, all the solutions of the boundary-value problem (of which there can be several) tend to a unique solution of a limiting problem, which is a degenerate Stokes problem. The analysis is based on the concept of a generalized solution and on functional-analysis methods.
