Effect of gradation of the linear load of the end zones of an inductor on the longitudinal edge effect in induction machines

A. I. Vol'dek - E. V. Tolvinskaya

Abstract
On the basis of one-dimensional theory, a theoretical and calculational investigation is made of means for decreasing the effect of the longitudinal edge effect by gradation of the linear load. Expressions are obtained for the resistances of the conversion scheme with an increase of the edge effect. The article gives calculated curves of these resistances and of the electromagnetic efficiency for different values of the magnetic Reynolds number, determined from the null velocity of the secondary medium and from the number of poles of the machine, as function of the slip. An evaluation of the effectiveness of the means under consideration for decreasing the effect of the longitudinal edge effect is given.
