Abstract
On the basis of the one-dimensional theory and the conversion scheme of a linear induction- type magnetohydrodynamic machine, the distribution of the induction over the length of the machine and its overall parameters are calculated. The experimental investigations were made in an arched-stator machine, in which the distribution of the induction was obtained using measuring coils, and the overall parameters r = f(s) and x = f(s) from the working characteristics P1 = f(s); I1 = f(s). Corrections were introduced into the calculated data to take account of the transverse edge effect and the ündamped" fields (in an arched-stator machine, the fields in the inactive edge zones are not damped and reenter the active zone). Good agreement between calculated and experimental data was attained. Recommendations are given on the calculation of linear induction-type machines.
