Modeling of the hydrodynamic of the electromagnetic treatment of the melts by solid reagents in a flow

B. V. Chekin - V. I. Doronin - V. V. Boyarenko - V. V. Lesovoi

Abstract
Modeling is used to find the conditions under which a uniform distribution of the particles of a reagent in a flow of liquid cast iron is achieved, when the ratio of the density of the cast iron to the density of the reagent is 1.3. The modeling liquid was a 25% solution of table salt, and the models of reagent were particles of polystyrene with a diameter of 0.75-4 mm. A study was made of the effect of electromagnetic forces, oriented contrary to the force of gravity, on the profile of the averaged longitudinal velocities and the distribution of the particles over the height of the flow, both in the working zone of the channel and beyond its limits.
