Effect of a longitudinal magnetic field on profiles of temperature, heat transfer, and turbulent heat transfer in mercury flows

L. G. Genin - S. P. Manchkha - V. G. Sviridov

Abstract
The temperature fields of mercury flows in a vertical cylindrical tube located in a longitudinal magnetic field are investigated experimentally. The controlling parameters were varied over the following limits: Re = 7−50·103, corresponding to the strongest effect of the longitudinal magnetic field on heat exchange; q = 0.5−3·104 W /m^2; and Ha = 0-550
