Torques acting on the side walls of a hollow cylinder rotating in a conducting liquid in an axial magnetic field

Abstract
The torques acting on the side surface of a cylinder are calculated for stationary rotation of the cylinder in a turbulent flow of conducting liquid, by analogy with laminar flow. The usual hydrodynamic torques and the torques produced by the action of the electromagnetic forces in the liquid are determined separately. The theoretical results agree satisfactorily with experiment.
