Drag coefficients of rectangular tubes in a constant magnetic field varying periodically along the length of the flow

Abstract
The effect of a magnetic field, periodically varying along the length of the flow, on the drag coefficient of rectangular tubes is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Optimum relationships between the tube and the magnetic system are determined to provide the maximum increase in the drag coefficient. It is shown that the results obtained can be used in the design of devices regulating liquid-metal flow rates.
