Edge losses in series MHD machines

Abstract
The distribution of the electric potential, current, and power is treated as a two- dimensional problem for one design variant of the edge region in a dc series MHD machine. The problem is solved by a numerical method. The parameters of the solution are: the tilt angle of the electrode loops, the load factor, and the Hall coefficient. Approximate expressions are obtained for the power losses.
