Hydraulic drag in the flowthrough segment of cylindrical MHD machines

Abstract
Results are shown of an experimental study concerning the hydrau1ic drag and the stream structure in the flowthrough channel of cylindrical MHD machines. These results indicate how the drag coefficient is affected by the operating conditions (Reynolds number), the basic geometry, and the shape of a flowthrough channel. Recommendations are given with regard to the design of such a channel, namely, its length and shape, along with empirical fonnulas for calculating the hydraulic drag therein.
