Removal of nonconducting impurities from liquid metals in the self magnetic field of an electric current

Abstract
The efficiency with which nonconducting particles are separated in the magnetic field of an electric current along the axis of a cylindrical liquid-metal conductor is estimated. Formulas are derived for the forces acting on particles of different shapes and for the time for particles to settle out on the tube walls.
