Magnetohydrodynamic flow in roughened tubes

A. V. Tananaev

Abstract
This paper describes studies of laminar and turbulent MIlD flow in roughened channels. It is shown that the roughness elements form shunt regions through which the induced currents are closed. In particular, this is the explanation for the more rapid increase of drag resistance for roughened channels than for smooth channels, and the anomalous distribution of mean velocities. A discussion is given of the known experimental data, and new measured results are presented for drag factors and velocity profiles which confirm the MIlD effects in roughened channels.
