Abstract
A method has been developed for the numerical solution of the general problem with a bending of the flow in a helical magnetic field. Results are shown for the special case of longitudinal flow in a tangential magnetic field at a Hartmann number Ha2 ≤ 50. It is also shown that the flow mode is determined by the concurrent action of two forces: viscous friction and electrodynamic braking. Within the given range of parameter values there occurs a smooth flow restructurization along a channel, without separation even at x←∞, The solutions obtained here are self-adjoint with respect to the Reynolds number. Also shown are results pertaining to fluid injection at the inner electrode, with the mainstream flowing either at a constant velocity, with the mainstream accelerated, or with the mainstream decelerated, depending on the fluid suction at the outer electrode.
