MHD rotation of a conducting fluid caused by a rotating magnetic field in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field

A. I. Karchevskii - E. P. Potanin

Abstract
Using the incompressible fluid MHD approach, rotation of a column of conducting medium under the effect of a hf field in the presence of a longitudinal magnetic field Bz has been considered. It has been shown that, if the vector of the angular velocity ω and the field B2 have opposite directions, the Hall current flows in such a direction that the radial electromagnetic force jϕxB2 is directed away from the centre. This adds to the column expansion rate increase. Tab. 1, fig. 1, refs 7.
