Nonstationary lubrication problem in magnetohydrodynamics

L. P. Terekhov

Abstract
The motion of a thin layer of a viscous conducting fluid has been studied assuming that one of the boundary surfaces is set into motion whose velocity depends exponentially on time. It has been shown that the main characteristics of the device with friction can be calculated easily in a wide range of values of parameters determing the nature of the conducting lubrication. In the case of negligible small values of the magnetic Prandtl number the characteristics of the MHD bearing are presented in the form of numerical series which converge satisfactorily and are convenient for practical application.
