Viscous instability of a mixing layer in a coplanar magnetic field

Abstract
The problem of magnetic field effect on viscous instability of a plane mixing layer between two homogeneous parallel opposite flows of compressible liquid has been solved numerically using the small perturbation method. The corresponding neutral curves have been plotted for different values of the magnetic interaction parameter. The dependences of relevant critical eigenvalues on this parameter (N) have been presented. From these, a conclusion about the stabilizing effect of the magnetic field upon the mixing layer flow has been derived. Figs 2. refs 7.
