Peculiarities of magnetic fluid film removal from a constrained vessel

A. R. Baev

Abstract
The problem of magnetic fluid film removal from the working volume of a ferrofluidic sealing by means of a moving flat or cylindrical surface in a field of volume forces being uniform or nonuniform along one of the coordinates has been solved. An analysis of a set of factors affecting most significantly the magnetic fluid losses has been performed as well as recommendations for the optimization of its parameters have been presented. Experimental results which agree sufficiently well with the computed data have been given. We also considered in principle a possibility of buffer medium application aiming at reduction of magnetic fluid losses. Figs 3, refs 9.
