Experimental studies 0f MHD processes in a channel with large aspect ratio in a strong magnetic field

Abstract
The results of experimental studies of MHD processes in some hydraulic elements characteristics to liquid metal blanket - a turn of the flow in a magnetic field, transfer from the flow in a circular pipe to that in a rectangular channei with large aspect ratio, at a sudden expansion of the latter - have been presented. Suppression of flow inertia effects by a strong magnelic field has been demonstrated using local measurement data of MHD flows. ft has been shown that the presence of well-conducting Hartmann walls makes the suppression effect stronger. MHD flow patterns for a sudden expansion of a channel with large aspect ratio have also been given. Table I, figs 15, refs 8
