Linear analysis of wave processes on the surface of liquid lightweighted by MHD means

Abstract
Stability of a free surface of a liquid lightweighted by MHD means has been studied in the linear approximation. It has been shown that when the magnetic field component which is co-planar with the electric current passing through the liquid exceeds a certain critical value, on the surface there appear nonpropagating perturbations growing with time. The perturbation modes with maximum growth rate in the overcritical regions have been determined. Figs 5, refs 4.
