Nonstationary electrovortical flow between parallel planes

Abstract
In Stokes approximation, an analytical solution of the problem of non-stationary electrically induced flow between parallel planes has been found. The solution illustrates the possible consequences of non-stationary conditions (current switching on or off, transient from one current value to another, etc.) in electric furnaces. In particular, it has been shown that within a certain period of time it is possible th.at the velocity exceeds its stationary value considerably, or, on the contrary, it can also be less than the latter, dependent on of what kind the non-stationarity conditions are.
