Nonstationary processes of MHD stirring in continuous casting

P. A. Levin

Abstract
The investigations of the MHD stirring for continuous casting of metals showed that it can hest be done in the case of the approximation to the cyllndrlcal flow shape. In the present paper, the circular motion of the melt under the action of the reversing electromagnetic field was examined. The rotation slip quantity was introduced and the appropriate partial differential equation was solved. The time dependence of the flow rate at the boundary and the time relaxation were found. These results may be useful to optimization of parameters of the reversing stirring. Ref. 9.
