Abstract
Dependences are obtained for the number of microvortices n and their mean diameter d on the exposure duration of a plane magnetic fluid (MF) layer to a rotating magnetic field Hm. It is shown that the number n decreases while d becomes larger with increasing exposure time, A Kelvin-Helmholtz instability was discovered when the layer was exposed to the simultaneous action of Hm and a constant field.
