Abstract
The problem of heat transfer intensification in the liquid metal blanket is of rather high priority. The present paper investigates general laws of the transfer of heat as a passive scalar in an MHD channel under a transverse magnetic field. A thin heating grid introduced heat flow into an already turbulized mercury flow. Velocity and temperature spectra were measured with changing parameters of the experiment. We have obtained a strong dependence of velocity spectra on the magnetic field value. As to temperature spectra, their low-frequency range with -5/3 slope is nearly field independent. The shape of a higher-frequency range of temperature spectra experiences a weak influence of magnetic field value, Reynolds number, and grid heating intensity.
