Abstract
Three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic equations for duct flows are reduced to a two-dimensional form with respect to the averaged vorticity and stream function by their integration along the duct width. It is suggested to take velocity profiles and induced current distributions from the solution of a proper fully-developed problem to complete the model. As an example the MHD flow in a rectangular duct with conducting cross strips in the Hartmann walls has been calculated numerically. Figs 2, refs 20.
