Abstract
Laminar heat transfer in the MHD-flows in straight rectangular ducts with a complanar magnetic field has been studied numerically and analytically. A range of fully developed Nusselt number variations have been estimated using a step-type velocity profile approximation. Asymptotic formulas for fully-developed Nusselt numbers in M-type velocity profile MHD-flows have been derived. Results of numerical calculations illustrating the effect of velocity profile, Joule and viscous dissipation on the temperature distribution have been presented. Figs 4, Refs 3.
