Abstract
Laminar heat transfer in MHD-flows in a conducting slotted channel with a large aspect ratio, 10 : 1, in a complanar magnetic field has been studied experimentally for the case of one-sided heating with the heat flux applied to one of the side walls. The experimental results for the temperature distributions along the channel centerline versus Hartmann number have been presented. It has been found experimentally and numerically that the correlation of the fully-developed temperature distribution in the channel cross-section with the magnetic field occurs in a certain range only at relatively small Hartmann numbers. As the Hartmann number increases within that range the temperature at the channel centerline decreases. The further increase in the Hartmann number does not affect heat transfer in the hole cross-sectional area. Figs 6, Refs 1.
