Abstract
An effect of suppression of mixing has been obtained experimentally as an advanced application of DC magnetic field to the continuous casting process. The results of numerical analysis explain the mechanism involved in the new effect. According to these results of basic studies, the bimetallic slab which consists of a stainless steel and a plain steel as the outer layer and inner layer respectively has been cast by using the level DC magnetic field. It has been confirmed as the result of investigation of stainless steel clad slab that the outer layer and inner layer are separated clearly in terms of both the concentration of solute elements and the morphology.
