Abstract
Liquid sloshing can be excited by a variety of motions of the liquid container, and the importance of liquid sloshing on the space technology and seismology is well recognized. The dynamic behavior of magnetic fluids in cylindrical container subject to magnetic and oscillatory fields was investigated theoretically and experimentally. At first, liquid surface oscillations in laterally and longitudinally excited rigid cylindrical container subject to magnetic fields were investigated by the linearized theory. In the next place, experimental data for the circular cylindrical container were compared with theoretical predictions. The effects of magnetic field gradients on magnetic fluid sloshing were revealed. Figs 5, Refs 3.
