Abstract
In this paper a comparison of three basic models of turbulence with experimental data and data of direct numerical simulation of Navier-Stokes equations is presented. Data for homogeneous shear flow, nearly isotropic turbulence behind a uniform grid and developed flow in channel have been used for comparison. The conclusion is that the K-e model and Launder-Reece-Rodi model are rather unisatisfactory. Locally anysotropic model proposed in this paper performs better than the above-listed models. An analysis of results is presented. Figs 3, refs 20.
