Abstract
In the paper, two problems are considered in which the volume ponderomotive forces associated with internal rotations are shown to be mainly responsible for generation of a circulation flows in magnetic fluids. One problem is devoted to an analytical investigation of the motion of the magnetic fluid in a vertical long cylinder. The motion is generated by the high frequency rotating field orthogonal to the cylinder axis. The velocity profile is determined in the approximation of a weak field. Theoretical and experimental results are compared. The second problem deals with an experimental study of the flow of a magnetic fluid subjected to the joint action of rotating and bias fields. It has been found that, with the bias field on, the flow structure qualitatively changes and the flow direction may be reversed. Figs 2, Refs 24.
