Abstract
Due to the possibility to change their physical properties, especially their viscosity, under magnetic fields, ferrofluids are a challenging subject for engineering, fundamental research and medicine. Experimental and theoretical studies have shown that modifications of the microstructure of ferrofluids in the presence of a magnetic field have significant influence on the magnetoviscous properties. To obtain information on the structure formation, a rheometer for Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) investigations of the behaviour of ferrofluids under the shear flow and the influence of a magnetic field strength was designed.
