Abstract
Normal magnetic field effects on the growth of electrodeposited Zn and Fe arborescences have been investigated as a function of the cell thickness. The observed spirals in Zn aggregates result from the mechanical action of the fluid rotation induced by the Lorentz body forces. The branch asymmetry observed in thin cells, where the fluid motion is reduced, can be related to the anions recession. No such field effects (spiraling and branch asymmetry) are observed in the case of Fe magnetic arborescences. Tables 2, Figs 5, Refs 8.
