Abstract
In a helium cooled lead lithium blanket for nuclear fusion reactors, the entire fusion power is removed by helium that flows at high pressure and speed inside the cooling plates. The liquid metal breeder is confined in cavities formed by the cooling plates, and heat conduction dominates the temperature field inside the fluid subject to a strong, externally applied magnetic field.
