Abstract
The results of experimental definition of the critical pressure drop for the magnetic fluid membrane obtained by thermodynamic and hydrostatic methods are discussed in the paper. It is found that the value of the critical pressure drop calculated by a thermodynamic method data exceeds by 30{\%} the value of this parameter measured by a hydrostatic method. It is supposed that the above divergence is reasoned by the non-linearity and relaxation nature of the elasticity of ponderomotive type. Tables 2, Figs 9, Refs 11.
