Abstract
Angular velocities distribution along the vertical axis was studied on a cold model of the liquid core of a continuous steel ingot of circular cross-section. Melt rotation in a harmonic and amplitude-modulated RMF was investigated. The features of the obtained angular velocity profile are interpreted on the basis of ``external" friction model in the assumption of flow beltramization and helical character. Stirring efficiencies in case of harmonic and amplitude-modulated RMF application are compared. Tables 1, Figs 3, Refs 2.
