Abstract
The main topic of this paper is the numerical investigation of the process of thermomagnetic convection of a special temperature-sensitive ferrofluid in a rectangular ferrofluid cell, which is heated from the bottom and cooled at the top. Thermomagnetic convection is driven by an applied inhomogeneous magnetic field with strength up to 0.8 T. The configuration of the field is based on measurements in the experimental setup. The two-equation SST k-w model has been used to calculate turbulent flow patterns and heat fluxes in the cell. Figs 3, Refs 6.
