Abstract
Motions of liquid gallium alloy generated in a two-directional cylindrical MHD-stirrer are examined. Results of experimental investigations of the flow and magnetic field topologies are presented. Measurements were taken using a dual-axis potential probe and induction coils. Experimental results for time-averaged flows are compared to theoretical results. Aalysis of turbulent fluctuations of the flow shows that the flow turbulence is three-dimensional and plays an essential role in the stirring processes. Tables 1, Figs 8, Refs 10.
