Abstract
Dielectric is considered in an electric field that has the first moment equal to zero and the second moment of strength at equilibrium different from zero. Equations of ideal hydrodynamics are obtained in such a field for the case of neglecting dissipative effects. A new variable -- the second moment of electric field strength -- is substituted into the Euler equation. A temporal equation for this variable is derived on the basis of the Maxwell equations in a hydrodynamic approximation. Adiabatic one-dimensional waves of small amplitude are studied in this system. Referring to the theoretical estimation of the intracrystalline field in an ionic crystal, good agreement of the obtained numerical values of the transversal velocity of this wave with the transversal velocity of sound for isotropic crystals of alkali halides is found.
