Abstract
The paper describes a method and some test experiments designed to incorporate boron nitride particles into aluminum matrix melt and aluminum-silicon alloy using two-directional MHD stirring and a consumable aluminum tube for introducing boron nitride powder into the melt. The method enables boron nitride particles to be distributed uniformly throughout the vessel. Therefore, the ultimate strength of pure aluminum enhances, and the yield point and the Young's modulus of the aluminum-silicon alloy are increased. Our experiments have shown that this rather simple method could be used in many practical applications. Tables 3, Figs 4, Refs 8.
