Numerical simulation of the ingot growth during the vacuum arc remelting process

Abstract
In this work, a 2D numerical model for the prediction of ingot growth during the vacuum arc remelting process is presented. Simulation results are compared with experimental measurements and calculations of other authors. Different flow regimes and their transitions are observed in the molten metal pool, and the obtained characteristic process values are correlated with the analytically derived measure for the dominant flow type.
