Abstract
We study heat and mass transfer processes in liquid model materials during their directional crystallization in a circular crucible under the action of rotating and travelling magnetic fields using numerical and physical model experiments. In numerical experiments, liquid phase reduction and solid phase growth are considered in liquid metal directionally solidified in a circular crucible. Analysis of the experimental results indicates that the toroidal flow driven in the crucible only slightly affects heat transfer in the vertical direction. Figs 10, Refs 9.
