Regulation of the head of a liquid-metal induction pump
V. M. Krauya
Abstract
The article presents a theoretical justification for a method of regulating the head of an induction pump for a liquid metal by using an asymmetric arrangement of the phase currents of the inductor. The method permits changing the head over a wide range, with a constant value of the evolution of heat by the vortical flows in the liquid metal. The necessary relationships are derived for the combined calculation of the dynamic, thermal, and electrical operating condition of the pump. The article discusses the effect of a current of zero order in the inductor on the electromagnetic head and on the evolution of heat in the channel. The method of regulation is proposed for pumps designed for metallurgical work, working under braking conditions. Magnitnaya Gidrodinamika 7, No. 2, 88-92, 1971 [PDF] (in Russian)
