On a certain effective method for investigating electromagnetic processes in MHD channels. II
V. E. Kozyrenko
Abstract
A technique for reducing discontinuous boundary-value problems in the theory of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) channels to mixed boundary-value problems in the theory of functions of one complex variable is presented, and a general method is given for solving them in closed form. Based on these techniques the author considers examples of the investigation of the electromagnetic processes in MHD channels. Under these conditions it is specifically shown that in a MHD channel with one pair of finite electrodes that are shorted at +∞ a tendency toward the formation of a current eddy develops with increasing Rm for a flow conductivity that is everyWhere constant and a uniform applied magnetic field. The working component of the electric-current-density vector is in this case attenuated at the entry to the interelectrode zone and is amplified at the exit from it.
