Single-phase inductor whose field wave has variable phase velocity
A. I. Syusyukin
Abstract
A single-phase winding, exciting a travelling magnetic field wave with variable phase velocity in the gap of an inductor, is constructed in conformity with the circuit of a long nonhomogeneous line with lumped parameters. A procedure for calculating the parameters of such a winding according to a prescribed law of variation of the induction in the gap and results of an experimental study of a linear inductor are given. Included are curves showing the distribution of induction in the gap under no-load conditions and in the delayed-rotor regime, and the dependence of the force acting on a metal plate suspended freely in the gap on the square of the current in the winding. Curves obtained for the variation of induction, phase, and phase velocity of the field wave agree qualitatively with theoretical relationships as applied to the design of the winding.
